Beach at Akumal 2

This is my favorite drawing from our trip. I'll probably add some color to it later.

Palm Tree - Akumal

I've been in love with palm trees lately, so I took every opportunity to draw them.

Backyard - Playa Del Carmen

Sketch done in our friends' backyard. It was great - I could sit on a stone stool in the pool while drawing. That's the life!

Skull Sketch 08/06/2005

Sometimes I don't care what I draw, sketch, doodle. When I can't think of anything, I usually end up drawing robots, skulls or flowers (or some combination). The way I look at it, I don't need some great inspiration as long as I just keep doing. Eventually the work will get better, and by then maybe I'll know what to paint...

Robot Moleskine

OK, so I couldn't resist after reading all the hype. I bought a Moleskine sketchbook. This is my first attempt with watercolor in it. I love the book, love the paper weight, but it felt like I was painting on waxed paper. In the end, I love how the texture turned out. I'm tempted to try scrubbing the page a bit first to see if the paint floats less.

Broccoli Still Life

Haven't done much still life drawing for a while. Kind of got lost in these bunches of broccoli. It's interesting how when you're drawing you can get lost in it. The branches, stalks, etc. almost seemed like a forest at times with dark hollows and hidden paths. Sketched in pencil.
