Skull Sketch 08/06/2005
![]()
Sometimes I don't care what I draw, sketch, doodle. When I can't think of anything, I usually end up drawing robots, skulls or flowers (or some combination). The way I look at it, I don't need some great inspiration as long as I just keep doing. Eventually the work will get better, and by then maybe I'll know what to paint...

I rather enjoy the composition and the colors. The watercolors (I presume) act almost like silk-screen flat colors. I'm intrigued -I'd like to see more!

Andrew, I like this one a lot--your other stuff is really well done, but this somehow "speaks" more I think. Then again, I tend to be a fan of more macabre stuff. And I agree with that idea that sometimes you just need to keep the pen or pencil moving across the page, producing something, ANYTHING. Time and again I've had sessions where I drew 5 or 6 really crappy things and at the end, somehow found my way to something really good. I'd keep going in this vein, definitely.

Thanks for the comments! There is something about the color and composition in this I like. I've been doing a lot of these quick studies - this may be something I gear myself up for doing a larger painting.
